The complainer requested that the PCCS review the handling of her complaint about Grampian Police. Following a road traffic incident involving the complainer's relative, the complainer believed that the force were targeting her relative unfairly and subsequently wrote to the force with 12 complaints.

The PCCS did not uphold ten of these complaints. It was unclear if one complaint had been recognised as a complaint about the police or even if the complainer had wished the matter to be considered as such. The PCCS therefore suggested that if she wished a formal response to the issue she should make the complaint formally to the force. Whilst the complainer's allegation that she was misled was acknowledged by the force, the issue was not adequately addressed. A subsequent review of the complaint was good practice, however the PCCS believed it was unclear what action was taken to identify any officer to whom this complaint may have referred. The PCCS therefore recommended that the force should provide the complainer with a response in this respect.
