The complainer requested that the PCCS review his complaint that, following a road traffic accident, officers of Tayside Police should have informed the complainer's relative of the cost of transporting his car to a local garage.
It was noted that it did not appear that the force had fully addressed aspects of a letter which the complainer had sent the force relating to his complaint and that the force should revisit the complaint and provide a response to the complainer.
As a consequence of both this and another review of a complaint about a force's application of the Vehicle Removal Scheme (PCCS/0810/00332/PF-LB), and apparent inconsistencies in Vehicle Removal Scheme Standard Operating Procedures, the PCCS wrote to the Association of Chief Police Officers Scotland in order that it can consider the application of the Vehicle Recovery Scheme Standard Operating Procedure and the relevant legislation.
