The complainer asked that the PCCS review the handling of a number of complaints about Northern Constabulary relating to his time in police custody in May 2007.
The PCCS recommended that Northern Constabulary respond to the complainer in writing in relation to one complaint. As two complaints did not appear to have been considered previously by the force, it was recommended that these issues be recorded as complaints about the police. With regard to two further complaints, it was recommended that the force revisit these matters and provide the complainer with a written response. A number of learning points for the force were also identified during this review.
