In the first published complaint about a ‘pan British' policing organisation, the PCCS was asked to review a complaint that British Transport Police did not investigate properly an allegation made about the complainer by a third party.

During the PCCS review, it was noted that the complainer had not had an adequate response to specific areas of his complaint and that the force did not have a clear audit trail of the actions it claimed to have carried out. As such, a recommendation was made that the force look again at the complaint to ensure that it was fully addressed, with the force to communicate the outcome of its investigation to both the complainer and the PCCS.
